Classroom Paraprofessional at Jefferson Elementary School

Position Overview

Jefferson Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary General Education Paraprofessional to support students in grades 1-5. The paraprofessional will work closely with classroom teachers to provide instructional support, assist with classroom management, and help foster a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for young learners.

Rate of pay for this position is $20.13 per hour. This position is 5 days a week, 7:45 am to 3:15 pm.

Key Responsibilities

Support teachers in delivering age-appropriate lessons and reinforcing learning activities. Provide individual or small-group academic support in reading, math , and other core subjects. Assist with classroom routines, organizations, and transitions to ensure a smooth school day. Engage with and lead students during recess, lunch, specials, and other non-classroom times.

Encourage positive behavior through the PBIS framework and help students develop social-emotional skills. Build strong, caring relationships with students to support their growth and independence. Communicate and collaborate with teachers and other school staff as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator.

Qualifications

High school diploma required. Experience working with elementary-aged children. Ability to work collaboratively with other team members. Ability to work in outside weather conditions throughout the year.

Preferred Qualifications

One of the following (1) Two year Associate of Arts degree OR (2) The equivalent of 60 semester credits OR (3) A portfolio demonstrating MN Core Competencies for paraprofessionals OR (4) A passing score on the MN Para Pro Test.
