Smoking and vaping occur in the home, so the caregiver must be comfortable working in a smoke-exposed environment and around pets. Home environment Heavy smoking in the home; husband smokes and client vapes. One dog and one cat live in the home. The dog sheds heavily, and there is significant pet hair throughout the house.

Home is cluttered. No known infestations. Husband also resides in the home. Mobility and safety Client is mobile but has difficulty waking at times. She may need some assistance walking around the home. Fall risk is a concern, so the caregiver should provide supervision and mobility support as needed. Care needs Light housekeeping, particularly managing clutter and pet hair as appropriate.

Meal-preparation support, such as opening containers, gathering items, and helping in the kitchen. Client prefers to do her own cooking when possible; caregiver should offer assistance while encouraging her independence. May need occasional errands or trips outside the home. Ideal caregiver match Friendly, patient, and experienced in caregiving.

Comfortable assisting a mobile client with fall-risk precautions. Must be comfortable around heavy smoke exposure, vaping, dogs, cats, and pet hair.
