Job description

PROFILE: The Director of People & Culture (DPC) is a key leadership role responsible for advancing a healthy, Christ-centered workplace culture that supports the organization’s mission and values.
This position provides strategic oversight for all human resources and culture initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals. The ideal candidate should be capable of providing big picture planning while also driving toward successful completion of objectives. Serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, the Director of People & Culture leads the People & Culture team in developing and implementing effective HR strategies, policies, and programs that cultivate an environment where staff feel supported, valued, and equipped to carry out the mission.
With a strong background in HR leadership and organizational culture development the DPC models professionalism, integrity, and servant leadership while maintaining strict confidentiality and sound judgment in sensitive personnel matters. This role is dedicated to strengthening the organization by guiding leaders, supporting staff, and fostering a workplace that reflects Christ-centered values.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
- Lead, Manage, Accountability: provide day-to-day leadership to the people and culture team.
- HR Strategy & Integration: Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR strategy aligned with organizational goals and operational needs.
- Culture Strategy & Integration: Lead initiatives that promote a Christ-centered workplace aligned with Bethesda’s mission and BOOM values.
- Employee Life Cycle Management: Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Talent Acquisition: Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies aligned with workforce planning and organizational goals.
- Employee Relations: Proactively identify and address people-related risks and opportunities.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including OSHA and HIPAA. 8.
Compensation
& Benefits Regulation: Oversee competitive compensation and benefits programs. 9. Policy & Process Development: Develop, maintain, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience; multi-site, multi-entity, or nonprofit experience preferred. Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance, including OSHA and HIPAA. Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to align HR strategy with organizational goals.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and advise senior leaders. Experience with Bamboo HR, and Microsoft Office applications a plus. Familiarity with Culture Index or similar workforce assessment tools preferred. High emotional intelligence, strong ethical judgment, and the ability to navigate organizational change.
