Superintendent

Position Overview

The Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operation of Big Sandy ISD and serves as the primary educational and executive leader of the district. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees to implement Board goals and policies, support high-quality instruction, maintain sound fiscal and operational practices, develop and retain outstanding staff, and strengthen relationships with students, families, staff, and the community.

Big Sandy ISD seeks a leader who is visible, approachable, ethical, collaborative, and committed to student achievement and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications Must hold a valid Texas Superintendent Certificate issued by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC). Master's degree from an accredited institution.

Valid Texas administrator certification. Demonstrated successful experience in educational leadership. Strong knowledge of Texas public school administration, accountability, curriculum and instruction, school finance, personnel, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a Board of Trustees, employees, parents, students, and community members.

Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful experience serving as a Superintendent of Schools. Experience as a central-office administrator, principal, or other senior campus/district leadership position. Demonstrated success improving student outcomes and organizational performance. Experience with school district budgeting, facilities, human resources, and long-range planning.

Experience building strong relationships with staff, families, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Knowledge and experience with Texas school district accountability systems and requirements. Leadership Characteristics The ideal candidate will: Place students and student outcomes at the center of decision-making.

Provide clear, consistent, and transparent leadership. Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the Board of Trustees. Develop trust and respect throughout the organization. Use data and sound educational practices to guide improvement efforts. Demonstrate strong fiscal stewardship and operational leadership. Be visible and engaged with students, staff, campuses, and the community. Understand and value the unique strengths and traditions of Big Sandy ISD. Lead with integrity, professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
