Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed IB Homeroom Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a holistic, inquiry-based curriculum, supporting students in their intellectual, social, emotional, and personal growth, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment.

The teacher will ensure that the principles of the IB PYP are followed and will work in close partnership with parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning: Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB framework. Create and implement differentiated learning experiences to cater to the diverse needs of students. Foster a positive, stimulating classroom environment that encourages inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking. Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide feedback.

Implement the IB Learner Profile to promote personal development and international-mindedness. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with fellow educators to design and refine the curriculum in accordance with the school’s goals. Ensure that the classroom environment reflects the current unit of inquiry and supports student learning.

Contribute to the development and review of unit plans, ensuring alignment with the IB framework. Student Support: Recognize and address the individual needs of each student, providing differentiated support as necessary. Promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and responsibility within the classroom. Provide emotional and behavioral support in line with school policies.

Maintain regular communication with parents, offering updates on student progress and addressing concerns. Assessment & Reporting: Regularly assess student learning and maintain records of student progress. Provide detailed and accurate reports on student performance, both for internal assessment and for parent communication.

Use feedback from assessments to inform future planning and individual learning goals. Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional learning, attending IB workshops, school-led training, and other relevant development opportunities. Participate in faculty meetings, planning sessions, and school events. Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular involvement.

Requirements

Education

A Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Bachelor of Education, Primary Education, etc.) An IB certification or teaching qualification is a strong advantage. Experience: Prior experience teaching in an IB or international school setting is preferred. Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in a primary school setting.

Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of the IB framework and philosophy. Ability to plan and execute inquiry-based learning. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Knowledge of formative and summative assessment practices.
