• Buffalo, NY, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 2 Year Degree, Salary Range: $32000.00 - $32000.01Salary/year, Travel Percentage: None, Substitute Teacher Position Title: Substitute Teacher Reports To: Building Principal/School Administrator Department: Academic/Instructional Position Summary The Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment while following the lesson plans, classroom procedures, and school policies established by the school and the regular teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher. Provide instruction and support to students in the assigned classroom. Maintain effective classroom management and student discipline. Supervise students throughout the school day and during assigned activities. Take attendance and maintain required classroom records.

Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment. Provide assistance to students with assignments and classroom activities. Follow school policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Communicate significant student, classroom, or safety concerns to the appropriate administrator. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and school information.

Leave appropriate notes and information for the regular classroom teacher regarding the day's activities and any significant concerns. Perform other related duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to maintain classroom control and establish positive relationships with students.

Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying educational needs. Must satisfy all applicable requirements for substitute teachers established by the school and applicable regulatory agencies. Work Environment The Substitute Teacher works primarily in a school/classroom environment and may be required to move throughout the building as necessary to supervise students and perform assigned responsibilities.
