Accounting Clerk, AR and Customer Service

We are currently searching for an Accounting Clerk to join our accounting department in Santa Fe Springs. This position will support the Accounting Department through customer accounts receivable, general accounting, and administrative duties. Responsibilities

Administer the Company’s customer charge card program, including maintaining records, processing and applying payments, reconciling accounts, and collecting outstanding balances. Serve as the primary contact for charge card customers, including valued and long-standing accounts, with professionalism, patience, and responsive service.

Support the Accounting Department through customer accounts receivable, general accounting, and administrative duties.

Essential Duties

Customer Service and Accounts Receivable Answer customer questions and resolve account and billing concerns by phone and email. Process daily store sales and bank receipts, apply payments, and maintain complete and accurate customer records. Prepare and distribute customer statements; research discrepancies, missing payments, and unapplied balances.

Monitor overdue accounts, follow up on collections courteously, and document payment commitments. Process credit applications and administer account holds, releases, and payment plans within company policies and approval limits. Prepare aging and collection reports, recommending write-offs, and coordinate approved collection agency referrals or small claims proceedings.

Escalate significant customer concerns, collection risks, and suspected unauthorized activity to management. Accounting and Administrative Support Reconcile charge card records to bank activity and the general ledger. Assist with other account reconciliations, journal entries, supporting schedules, and month-end close activities as assigned.

Provide backup support for other accounting functions and perform related duties as assigned. Protect confidential customer and company information.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required, preferably including accounts receivable, payment processing, reconciliations, or collections. Relevant college coursework or an associate’s degree in accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field may substitute for a portion of the required experience; some practical accounting or bookkeeping experience is required.

Customer service experience is strongly preferred. Proficiency in Excel, email, and accounting systems. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication. Ability to handle customer concerns patiently and professionally, prioritize competing tasks, and meet deadlines.

Pay range

$27 - $30 per hour
