About the Role

Reporting to: Intermodal & Logistics Manager (New Zealand) Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time Work Location: Auckland, New Zealand The Senior Logistics Supervisor is responsible for improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the Group’s container fleet operations across New Zealand. The role ensures equipment availability meets forecast export demand across ports, while monitoring team performance, container-related costs, and operational issues.

It also provides technical and administrative support to the NZ Sales Director and drives continuous improvement by ensuring compliance with quality procedures and recommending enhancements to processes and SOPs in line with Group policies. The role and responsibilities will include: Manage national container depot operations, monitoring available equipment stock against bookings and forecast requirements to maintain appropriate stock levels across New Zealand ports.

Manage equipment imbalances and empty container movements, coordinating transport and repositioning to improve equipment availability and operational efficiency. Oversee depot, terminal and maintenance activities to expedite container availability, minimise dwell time and ensure performance remains within agreed KPIs.

Monitor container movements and operational data, including EDI movements, vessel load activity, delivery order redelivery locations, call closures and weekly idle reporting. Drive cost control and operational improvement by identifying cost-saving opportunities, reviewing logistics expenditure and coding/approving transport, rail, depot, port and ancillary invoices.

Support team and stakeholder performance through staff training and motivation, accurate management reporting, compliance with Group policies and close coordination with Operations, Trade, Space Management and other key stakeholders. To be successful in this role, you will need: Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in transport, logistics or a related field; a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a similar discipline is preferred.

3–5 years’ relevant experience in shipping, logistics or operations, with a strong understanding of operational and logistics processes. Strong analytical and technical capability, including excellent Excel and general computer skills, with the ability to interpret information accurately and support effective decision-making.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, can-do approach and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team. Strong organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritise, meet deadlines accurately, proactively resolve issues and follow through on outstanding matters.
