Job description

Description We are looking for a hands-on engineer or experimental physicist to develop and test advanced infrastructure for quantum systems. This is an R&D-focused position involving new vacuum techniques, electrical delivery methods, and system configurations designed to push performance beyond current limits. Candidates may come from physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related experimental field.

Requirements

Develop and test vacuum and electrical infrastructure for quantum hardware. Investigate new UHV/XHV techniques, materials, components, and system architectures. Develop low-noise DC, RF, high-voltage, and control-signal delivery methods. Design and evaluate feedthroughs, wiring, filtering, grounding, shielding, and in-vacuum assemblies.

Build experimental setups and characterize vacuum, electrical noise, stability, and system performance. Analyze data, identify root causes, and translate results into improved designs. Automate measurements and testing using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools. Collaborate with physicists and mechanical, electrical, control, and systems engineers.

Qualifications

BSc, MSc, or PhD in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field. Strong hands-on experience with complex scientific or experimental systems. Research background demonstrated through graduate work, publications, patents, or advanced R&D projects. Practical experience with high-vacuum, UHV, or XHV systems.

Understanding of electrical noise, grounding, shielding, filtering, and signal integrity. Strong instrumentation, troubleshooting, and experimental-design skills.
