Job Type: Officer of Administration Bargaining Unit: Regular/Temporary: Temporary End Date if Temporary: 02/01/2027 Hours Per Week: 5 Standard Work Schedule: Building: Salary Range: $36.43 - $36.43 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.

Position Summary

The candidate will be working for Pediatric Cardiology in the pediatric exercise laboratory performing clinical exercise testing / evaluations. The candidate will perform clinical stress testing, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (aka VO2 max testing), six minute walk testing and body composition / frailty assessments.

The candidate will be supervised by the senior exercise physiologist and Dr. Layton. This internship helps to fulfill the 600 clinical hours required for the ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification. This opportunity also provides real time hands on experience working with children with heart or lung disease.

The candidate will learn basic ECG interpretation and the ability to recognize arrythmias. The candidate will learn how to interpret basic spirometry for working with patients with lung disease. Additionally, the candidate will be exposed to real world clinical setting and how to apply their education to the real world setting.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain real world hands on experience working with patients in the health care setting. “Subject to business needs, we may support flexible and hybrid work arrangements. Options will be discussed during the interview process” Responsibilities Assist in developing individualized exercise prescriptions and routines.

Guide patients and clients through sessions. Educate individuals on safe and effective exercise techniques. Set up and break down fitness and diagnostic equipment (such as ECG machines or treadmills). Maintain a clean, safe, and organized testing or rehabilitation environment. Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of related experience. Other Requirements Strong Organizational, Communication & Interpersonal Skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Available for occasional weekend procedures. Candidate must Successfully undergo a background check prior to receiving a final offer of employment.
