Sr Mechanical Engineer
Job description
Design Hire is seeking a Sr Mechanical Engineer who will work with experienced professionals on projects ranging from new construction to building renovations, with opportunities to influence design strategy and project delivery. This position combines advanced mechanical engineering with project leadership, client support, and business development responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead HVAC Design and integrated mechanical solutions for complex building projects, coordinating requirements with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines. Develop and review Construction Documents, Engineering Reports, system layouts, specifications, and technical deliverables throughout project development.
Perform Mechanical Systems Analysis, Design Option Analysis, and Cost-Benefit Analysis to identify practical solutions that meet project requirements and client objectives. Provide Construction Administration support, resolve field and design issues, and coordinate technical requirements during project execution. Manage Mechanical Engineering projects, including Project Scheduling, Project Financial Management, client coordination, and Proposal Writing activities.
Qualifications
10+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience in an A/E Professional Services environment, with progressive responsibility on complex building projects. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. New York Professional Engineer (PE) License required or strongly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in Plumbing Design, Fire Protection Design, Process Piping Systems, and comprehensive building mechanical systems.
Experience supporting Building Renovation Design and Multi-Discipline Design Projects from planning through construction. Strong understanding of mechanical codes, industry standards, energy efficiency requirements, and engineering best practices. Proven ability to evaluate technical alternatives, develop engineering recommendations, and communicate solutions to clients and project stakeholders.
Strong leadership, organization, communication, and mentoring skills with the ability to manage multiple project priorities and support team development.
