PRINCIPAL LEAD: Credit Risk (Existing Customer Management)
Job description
Main Purpose To support the Head of Credit Risk in managing the WFS Existing Customer Management (ECM) Credit Risk strategy, by partnering and leading a team of analysts in ensuring the ECM Risk agenda is clearly defined, optimised and effectively executed within a robust control framework and aligned to relevant policy and legislation.
Accountabilities include: Assist in defining, optimising and implementing the WFS ECM Risk strategy, covering ECM Credit Risk Decisioning, Credit Limit Management, Affordability Risk, Card Overlimit Authorisations, Credit Card Re-Issue, etc. Develop and maintain world-class analytically-driven strategies to optimise risk performance, by leveraging statistical/modelling techniques to unlock value from enterprise data assets Act as a representative in forums, weekly and/or monthly meetings and enterprise project initiatives, collaborating cross-functionally and managing stakeholders across the business As a credible and respected expert within a sub-discipline of Credit Risk management, generate ideas and offer unique perspectives to optimise complex processes, systems and disciplines Lead, manage and develop a team of Credit Risk analysts KEY OUTCOMES Strategy Development and Monitoring Technical Subject Matter Expertise Thought Leadership Stakeholder Management Action Orientation & Delivery Management & Team Leadership Requirements TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Credit Risk Management Champion/Challenger Strategy Design Structured Query Language Proficiency Packaging and presenting Data Insights Statistics and Modelling Methodologies Credit Industry and Market Knowledge BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES Intellectual Curiosity – continuous improvement, innovation and ability to deal with change Stakeholder Engagement – collaboration, influencing and persuading Decision Making – mental agility, analysing and interpreting Action Orientated – results focus, determination to achieve and deadline driven Self-leadership – initiating, planning and organising own deliverables Analytical Thinking – attention to detail, focus on quality and integrity of output Team Player – relating, networking and supporting colleagues QUALIFICATIONS Minimum: Bachelor’s degree (3 years) ideally in the following disciplines: Quantitative Risk Management, Mathematics or Statistics, Finance, Economics, Econometrics Preferred: Post graduate degree EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Minimum: 5+ years Credit Risk related experience in a Senior Analytical Role Proven strategy development and implementation experience using credit scores, bureau scores and segmentation analytics on consumer portfolios At least 5 years analytical experience on a consumer portfolio (credit cards, private label / retail cards, loans, etc.)
in either Credit Risk or Collections strategies Experience in working in an outsourced environment and effectively implementing solutions using both internal and external resources Experience in data cleaning, data manipulation, and analysing large data sets using SAS, SQL, AWS Cloud Analytical Tools, or similar environment Formal team management and leadership experience in an analytical context ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of financial services industry in a strongly regulated environment for a multi- product, multi-stakeholder organisation Knowledge and application of credit scoring and risk management techniques across the entire credit life cycle on consumer portfolios Proven ability in analytics, business acumen and presenting/communicating recommendations across all organisation levels Ability to work with diverse teams to ensure effective implementation of projects Understanding of financial metrics in relation to portfolio management and the associated forecasting thereof High proficiency in structured language analytical software (SAS, SQL, Python, AWS Cloud) High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Closing Date: 29 July 2026
