We are looking for a dedicated Research & Development Specialist to join our Product Development team in driving testing, formulation improvements, and quality standards.
Position Summary
The R&D Specialist focuses on product testing, technical analysis, and laboratory management. In this role, you will evaluate raw materials, manufactured goods, and competitor products to support innovation and ensure top product quality. You will work closely with the Lab Manager and cross-functional teams to assist in research projects, maintain SDS documentation, manage chemical inventory, and ensure lab operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in R&D projects by testing new raw materials, component updates, and experimental formulations. Product & Component Testing: Perform technical performance evaluations on experimental items (e.g., starches, valves, caps) as well as competitor products. Product & Material Evaluation: Assess new product concepts and ideas, providing technical feedback and insights.
Inventory & Safety Compliance: Partner with internal departments to maintain chemical inventory records and up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDS) libraries. Quality & Warehouse Auditing: Inspect merchandise conditions at the warehouse when required. Laboratory Maintenance: Oversee general lab housekeeping, maintain adequate supply levels, and maintain standard testing equipment.
General: Perform other duties as assigned to support business and laboratory operations.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory or related product development/R&D role.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related scientific field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience). Technical & Software Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong organizational capabilities. Integrity & Ethics: Ability to handle sensitive technical data with high integrity and discretion. Physical Demands & Work Environment Workplace Setting: Laboratory setting located within a manufacturing plant environment with varying conditions.
Physical Capabilities: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer; ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally. Cognitive Requirements: Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills. Faultless Brands is an equal opportunity employer.
