Performs a variety of laboratory tests, many of which are complex, involve numerous steps and techniques, and require use of professional judgment. Tests may be performed in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Serology, or Urinalysis. Professional application of the principles, theories, and techniques of laboratory technology are used to produce reliable test results which aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment.

Responsible for the performance of routine testing procedures, is accountable for accurate results and proper use of quality control materials, must recognize the interdependence of tests and the conditions that affect test results.
