Staff AI Engineer
Job description
Visium combines strategy, frontier AI, and deep regulated-industry expertise to build and deploy AI-native systems that reinvent how businesses operate - unlocking the value of AI at scale. We're not a strategy firm that ships slide decks and walks away. Not a tech consultancy that builds what won't get adopted. Not a product company chasing problems it doesn't understand.
We're all three at once: strategy, deep technical and integration expertise, and product, working as one. That combination is our flywheel. Consulting keeps us close to the hardest real-world problems. Products let us solve them at scale. Every engagement sharpens our products; every deployment makes the next engagement faster, deeper, and more certain.
We're obsessed with outcomes. While 95% of enterprise AI pilots never reach production, Visium is built to be the 5% delivering productised AI that compounds in value, not point solutions that deliver marginal gains. We are AI-native, not AI-adjacent. We don't bolt AI onto broken workflows; we redesign them with AI at the core.
Role As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will own the most technically complex and high-impact projects from conceptualization over architecture design to production deployment. You will: Set direction for a technical team, ensuring architectural excellence and long-term solution maintainability. Lead and mentor junior and senior engineers, raising the technical bar across projects.
Stay hands-on with high quality code contributions to data processing, modeling and deployment pipelines while delegating effectively. Partner with clients to translate complex business challenges into clear technical roadmaps and deliver measurable business outcomes. Drive adoption of modern ML best practices and state-of-the-art methodology from system design and architecture over modelling to MLOps.
You are not only passionate about machine learning, but also about shaping how data-driven insights create value for our clients. You thrive in dynamic environments, balancing hands-on technical work with strategic decision-making and team leadership. This role goes beyond building models: you will be responsible for technical strategy, quality standards and growing engineering talent, shaping the future of our ML delivery practice.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you bring a combination of expertise, experience, and skills including: 6 - 8 years of experience in machine learning, data science, or related fields. Proficiency in Python programming. Expertise in ML/DL libraries and frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, Tensor. Flow, Keras, Py. Torch). Experience with data visualization tools (e.
g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Power BI, Tableau, D3.js). Deep learning experience (e.g., RNNs, CNNs) and strong knowledge of clustering, regression, and classification methods. Experience in designing, developing, and deploying LLM-based applications, including RAG systems, with a strong understanding of prompt engineering, vector databases, and knowledge retrieval pipelines.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments, REST APIs, and microservices. Experience with ML deployment, production pipelines, and scalable architectures on platforms such as AzureML, AWS and GCP. Experience with Data and AI platforms (Databricks, Dataiku, Snowflake). Certifications are a plus. Demonstrated technical and project leadership, with the ability to guide complex initiatives and deliver results.
Strong mentorship skills and experience managing or coaching teams to reach their full potential. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of bridging technical and business perspectives. Fluent in English, French is a plus.
