Instrument Fitter

Job Details: Job Location: GENERON 1

• Houston, TX, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Crew Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and schedule internal technicians and third-party contractors. System Installation: Layout, cut, bend, and thread stainless steel, copper, and carbon steel tubing for pneumatic and electrical signal lines. Blueprint Reading: Interpret complex Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), loop diagrams, control narratives, and schematics. Calibration & Testing: Perform loop checks, calibrate instruments (transmitters, transducers, controllers), and pressure-test systems to guarantee zero-leak integrity. Safety & Compliance: Conduct daily safety meetings, perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and ensure OSHA and site-specific environmental standards are met. Commissioning Support: Assist engineering and integration teams with startup, troubleshooting, and validation of automated processes.

Qualifications

Education

& Qualifications Experience: Typically 5+ years of industrial or construction experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power generation. Skills: Expert proficiency with hand and power tools, tube benders, and calibration equipment. Certifications: NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) Instrumentation credentials or equivalent military/technical training are highly preferred.

Physical Requirements Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Ability to work in confined spaces, at high elevations, and in varying weather conditions. Must be able to perform repetitive hand motions, bending, and twisting.
