R&D Specialist (Research & Development Specialist) Department: Product Development & Engineering Reports To: Product Development & Engineering Manager Location: Louveira, SP Brazil Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary The R&D Specialist is responsible for leading innovation and new product development projects while driving continuous improvement initiatives within a printing and packaging manufacturing environment.
This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet market demands, customer expectations, technical specifications, and business objectives. The ideal candidate brings strong project management expertise, technical knowledge, and a passion for innovation, with the ability to lead projects from concept through industrial implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Development Lead Research & Development projects from concept through industrial implementation, ensuring adherence to project scope, timelines, budgets, and performance metrics. Drive new product development initiatives and enhancements to existing products. Conduct market research, competitive benchmarking, and technology assessments to identify innovation opportunities.
Evaluate product performance and recommend improvements based on customer and market feedback. Project Management Manage multiple product development and innovation projects simultaneously. Develop project plans, timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies. Monitor project milestones and ensure successful execution through a Stage-Gate or similar product development methodology.
Track and report project status, KPIs, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders. Cross-Functional Collaboration Coordinate multidisciplinary teams involving R&D, Production, Quality, Engineering, Procurement, Sales, Marketing, and Operations. Serve as the primary point of contact between internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers throughout the development process.
Facilitate communication and alignment across departments to ensure project success. Technical Analysis & Continuous Improvement Conduct technical, operational, and financial feasibility studies to support decision-making. Identify risks and opportunities and implement corrective or preventive actions. Support manufacturing optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and standardize project management methodologies, processes, and tools. Innovation Leadership Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, materials, and regulatory requirements. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and contribute to knowledge sharing across the organization.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Product Development, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Graphic Arts, Chemistry, or a related technical field. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing product development, innovation, or R&D projects within a manufacturing environment. Proven experience leading cross-functional project teams.
Strong understanding of product development processes, project management methodologies, and industrial manufacturing operations. Technical Skills Experience with Protheus ERP . Experience with Intranet business systems. Experience with i4S or similar manufacturing management systems. Knowledge of Stage-Gate project management methodologies.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Language Requirements Fluent English (written and spoken) is required. Portuguese required. Preferred Competencies Project leadership and stakeholder management. Strategic and innovative thinking. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong business and financial acumen. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Customer-focused mindset.
