Manager Supply Chain (ARC) PDC
Job description
Brief Description: The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading procurement, supplier management, material planning, forecasting, and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective availability of materials, parts, and outside services required to support our operations.
This role will lead the Purchasing team and oversee the effective use of SAP (or the current ERP system) and related planning processes to support material availability, supplier performance, and business demand. The Supply Chain Manager will work closely with Production and other functional groups to translate current and forecasted demand into effective procurement and material plans while maintaining a qualified, competitive, and reliable supplier base.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, planning, analytical, negotiation, supplier-management, and business skills and be capable of making fact-based decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing and service environment. This role performs under the general direction of the Sr Technical Services Manager with a dotted line to the Director of Asset Performance Management.
Detailed Description:
- Lead and manage the facility Purchasing team, including workload, priorities, performance, professional development, supplier follow-up, and compliance with established purchasing policies and procedures.
- Own material and supply planning activities, including MRP, forecasting, material requirements, shortage management, inventory-planning parameters, and procurement execution to support current and forecasted operational demand.
- Serve as the primary Supply Chain owner for material availability and ensure purchasing and planning activities effectively support Production, Field Service, Parts Support, maintenance, and other business requirements.
- Maintain effective use of the Company's ERP and planning systems to support purchasing, material planning, supplier management, inventory visibility, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
- Monitor material requirements, shortages, supplier commitments, excess supply, critical stocking needs, and other planning exceptions and ensure appropriate actions are identified and completed.
- Provide leadership and oversight for third-party planning or MRP resources when utilized and develop the internal knowledge and capability necessary to manage these activities within the Supply Chain organization.
- Develop and maintain a qualified, competitive, and reliable supplier base through new and alternate supplier development, supplier qualification and approval, supplier evaluations and audits, performance management, negotiations, strategic sourcing, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Manage supplier relationships and hold suppliers accountable for quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, lead time, capacity, documentation, and overall performance.
- Work closely with Quality to ensure supplier qualification, approval, monitoring, re-evaluation, audits, and corrective-action activities comply with the Company's Quality Management System, applicable API Q1, ISO 9001, and other applicable requirements.
- Lead supplier negotiations, competitive sourcing, and cost-reduction initiatives involving materials, components, outside services, repairs, freight, commercial terms, and other significant areas of spend.
- Maintain visibility of critical material shortages and supply risks and coordinate recovery actions with buyers, suppliers, Operations, and other applicable functional groups.
- Monitor inventory requirements, excess and obsolete material, and critical stocking needs while partnering with Warehouse & Inventory to support inventory accuracy and effective material planning.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Production, Technical Services, Warehouse & Inventory, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and other stakeholders to communicate material availability, forecast requirements, supplier risks, sourcing opportunities, and Supply Chain priorities.
- Establish, monitor, and communicate appropriate Supply Chain KPIs and weekly management reporting, including supplier performance, material shortages, overdue purchase orders, cost savings, planning performance, and supplier-development activities.
- Use Supply Chain data and performance trends to improve material availability, supplier performance, procurement efficiency, inventory investment, planning effectiveness, and cost.
- Ensure procurement and supplier-management activities comply with company policies, delegated authorities, Quality Management System requirements, and established procedures.
- Provide leadership, coaching, accountability, and professional development for assigned Supply Chain personnel.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Sr Technical Services Manager. Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in supply chain management including procurement, supplier management, materials requirements planning, inventory management, and strategic sourcing in a manufacturing or industrial role.
- Experience using ERP systems to support purchasing, material planning, supplier management, inventory management, and reporting; SAP experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience identifying, qualifying, developing, and managing suppliers, including alternate sourcing and supplier-performance improvement.
- Experience with supplier qualification, audits, evaluations, or approved-vendor programs within a formal Quality Management System.
- Strong negotiation, cost-reduction, sourcing, and forecasting skills.
- Ability to understand the relationship between demand, Bills of Material, inventory, supplier lead times, purchase orders, work orders, and material availability.
- Ability to motivate individuals and teams by cascading the company vision and purpose and drive alignment through clear and consistent communications across regions and functional groups.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously to meet challenging deadlines.
- Ability to make rapid business critical decisions with available information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English with employees, customers and third parties at all levels
- Computer skills to include MS Office Suite and other business systems such as SAP, OKTA Apps and the internal Management System, as well as use of smart phones, laptops, and tablets.
- Ability to regularly travel as needed to visit work sites and support business units; may occasionally require extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area
- Ability to safely navigate work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc., during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) including proper use of designated personal protective equipment (PPE) Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related discipline; significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, planning, manufacturing, or industrial service operations
- Three (3) or more years of leadership, supervision, or management experience within purchasing, planning, supply chain, or a related function
- Demonstrated experience managing suppliers, sourcing activities, material requirements, or procurement processes
- Experience using ERP systems within a manufacturing or production environment
- Experience working within a formal Quality Management System
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet applicable company vehicle eligibility requirements Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of supply chain, purchasing, or materials-management leadership experience
- Experience managing projects across multiple functional groups to support operations
- Three (3) or more years Drilling or oilfield-service industry experience and/or working knowledge of oilfield equipment including top drives, mud pumps, automated catwalk systems, iron roughnecks/make-break equipment, or related drilling equipment
- Knowledge of API Q1, API 8C, ISO 9001, or similar Quality Management Systems
- Experience with supplier qualification, supplier audits, supplier development, alternate sourcing, and approved vendor programs Work Environment This position requires the person to work in the office and field locations. Variable work hours may include regular after-hours, weekend, and holiday commitments as well as regular travel. Must comply with all Company policies, including requirements for operating a Company vehicle.
