Cybersecurity Intern (Winter 2027) Dawson Partners (“Dawson”), based in Toronto, is a fast-growing private equity firm focused on accelerating liquidity on private equity portfolios through structured solutions. Dawson seeks to provide customized and flexible liquidity solutions for private equity investors through the use of structured solutions with existing investors or outright purchases of portfolios which are subsequently structured into different securities.
Dawson currently has over $30.0B assets under management. The Technology & Data team is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern starting in January 2027 at our Toronto office. The Technology & Data team is comprised of the following three functional pillars: Data & Analytics: Enabling advanced analytics, through accurate data and automation to provide deep insights to the Firm.
Cybersecurity & Risk: Working across the firm to properly balance security with convenience, we believe that securing the firm requires a total team effort. Utilizing a risk-based approach and controls to protect the firm, mitigate risk and provide confidence that our assets are protected. Infrastructure & Systems: Providing the right sized tools, processes and platforms to support growth and collaboration while also creating space for personal development and mind share.
The intern will gain exposure to all three Technology & Data pillars during their internship period (with a focus on cybersecurity & risk). They will also be encouraged to actively participate in firm-wide team meetings, investment committee discussions and projects. We are looking for self-motivated individuals ideally completing their senior year in 2027 (or 2028) with a degree in Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Math and have a demonstrated track record of curricular and extracurricular excellence.
Job Responsibilities
Review and update documentation for policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Research and evaluate applications and services for use by the firm. Provide initial response to cybersecurity queries. Assist in cybersecurity investigations, as appropriate. Assist with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities as required.
Assist with applications/tools including but not limited to SIEM, IPS, EDR, web proxy and DLP tools. Assist in periodic user access reviews. Record and track IT security incidents. Liaise with technology partners and vendors who augment the firm's security practice. Collaborate with peers to grow and expand your cybersecurity knowledge and expertise.
Education/Certification: Exceptional academic record. Extracurricular leadership. Expected graduation in 2027 (or 2028). What You Bring: Passionate about technology. Curious about cybersecurity. A reputable digital citizen. Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Understanding of computer networking fundamentals.
Able to assist ongoing projects in conjunction with daily operations. Self-directed and be able to manage assigned tasks within the team. Able to methodically troubleshoot a technical issue. Able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of capital markets, private equity, risk management and data concepts considered an asset.
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work output. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Willingness to work across the organization in support of ad hoc projects as required. Team player who enjoys a high-performance culture. Interest in the secondary private equity market.
