Intern: AI for Smarter ATE Test Development & Debug
Job description
At Cadence, we hire and develop leaders and innovators who want to make an impact on the world of technology. At Cadence, we hire and develop leaders and innovators who want to make an impact on the world of technology. Cadence is a pivotal leader in electronic design, building upon more than 30 years of computational software expertise.
The company applies its underlying Intelligent System Design strategy to deliver software, hardware and IP that turn design concepts into reality. Cadence customers are the world’s most innovative companies, delivering extraordinary electronic products from chips to boards to systems for the most dynamic market applications including consumer, hyperscale computing, 5G communications, automotive, aerospace industrial and health.
Location: Cadence Design Systems, Sophia Antipolis, France Duration: 6 months Profile: Final-year engineering student About the Internship Are you curious about Artificial Intelligence and interested in applying it to real semiconductor testing challenges? Do you enjoy working at the intersection of electronics, software and data?
If so, we'd love to hear from you. At Cadence, we believe great candidates come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. You do not need to be an AI expert or already have experience with semiconductor test equipment to apply. We are looking for motivated and curious individuals who are eager to learn and interested in exploring how AI can improve the way silicon devices are tested and debugged.
During this internship, you will work with the ATE Test team to investigate how AI and automation can improve test development, debugging and engineering workflows. You will work with real semiconductor test methods and results, exploring opportunities to make test development more efficient and help engineers identify issues faster.
You will be supported by experienced test engineers and will gain hands-on exposure to real post-silicon test and validation activities.
What You Will Do
Explore how AI can improve ATE test development and debug workflows. Analyse existing test methods, test programs, logs and results to identify opportunities for automation. Develop Python-based tools and AI prototypes to assist engineers during test development and debugging. Investigate methods to automatically detect anomalies or unexpected behaviour in test results.
Explore AI-assisted approaches for root cause analysis and troubleshooting. Improve the way test information, debug data and results are presented to engineers. Collaborate with test engineers to validate proposed solutions on real engineering use cases. Expected Deliverables By the end of the internship, you will: Develop and demonstrate at least one AI-assisted test or debug prototype.
Validate the proposed approach using real semiconductor test cases. Demonstrate how the solution can simplify or accelerate an existing engineering workflow. Document the methodology, implementation, results and recommendations. Present your work to the engineering team. Success Criteria Success will be measured by the solution's ability to provide value in one or more of the following areas: Reduced manual effort during test development or debug.
Faster identification of test or silicon issues. Improved automation of repetitive engineering activities. More efficient analysis of test logs and results. Improved usability and accessibility of engineering information. Positive feedback from test engineers using the prototype.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineering background in electronics, microelectronics, embedded systems, computer science or a related field. Basic programming skills, with Python being a plus. Interest in Artificial Intelligence and data-driven engineering. Strong curiosity and willingness to learn. Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail. Good communication and teamwork skills.
Nice to Have
Exposure to semiconductor testing or validation. Basic knowledge of digital or analogue electronics. Experience with Python, data analysis or software development. Interest in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and silicon validation. What Matters Most Curiosity, enthusiasm and a desire to learn. Whether your background is primarily electronics, software, data science or AI, we encourage you to apply.
This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with semiconductor testing while exploring how AI can transform traditional test development and debug methodologies. We’re doing work that matters. Help us solve what others can’t.
