Sr. Regulatory & Markets Strategist

Connexus Energy is seeking a forward-thinking, collaborative Sr. Regulatory and Markets Strategist to help shape our approach to regulatory compliance, market strategy, and long-term resource planning. As a key member of our Power Supply and Business Development team, this role will conduct market research and analytics to inform resource planning and portfolio optimization.

Candidates with experience in MISO markets, regulatory compliance, or resource planning are strongly preferred. Location: This position offers a hybrid work schedule. After completing the initial six-month training period, employees may work remotely up to three days per week, with the remaining time spent at our campus located at 14601 Ramsey Blvd, Ramsey, MN 55303.

Compensation

Anticipated hiring pay is $88,900 –$116,655 annually. Final compensation will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, and skill level. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 8% based on company performance. In this position, you will: Produces reports and leverages data and analytics to ensure compliance with MISO market rules and regulations and execution of Connexus Energy’s market strategies.

Monitors trends, including evolution of MISO wholesale market designs by attending MISO stakeholder meetings; leverage market knowledge, insight, and data to make strategic recommendations for portfolio risk management. Performs research and analytics to inform Energy Conservation Optimization (ECO) compliance strategy.

Additionally, provide internal advising on program design and associated technologies to support energy efficiency and conservation initiatives. Represent and advocate for Connexus Energy’s compliance interests in regulatory and stakeholder forums as needed. Tracks regulatory dockets, provides summaries, insights, and recommendations to management and leadership.

Develop and direct strategies for managing Connexus Energy’s portfolio of environmental attributes such as renewable energy certificates, emissions, etc. Need to have: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, math, statistics, energy management, engineering, data science or related field Three or more years of electric utility or comparable energy industry experience Five or more years of experience with at least one of the following: utility energy efficiency and/or demand response programs, integrated resource planning, renewable energy compliance, and portfolio risk management Nice to have: Graduate degree Five or more years of electric utility or comparable energy industry experience Experience with Midcontinent Independent System Operator wholesale markets (e.

g., energy, capacity, ancillary services, transmission congestion) or other ISO markets Experience with the State of Minnesota e-docket system (or similar system) Familiarity with Minnesota state statute regarding power supply planning, energy efficiency, renewable energy and electric cooperatives Pre-Employment Requirement: Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
