Job Title: Director of Business Operations Location: Show Low Unified School District Reports To: Superintendent and School Governing Board Department: Business Services FLSA Status: Exempt Salary: To be determined Job Type: Full-Time Position Summary: The Director of Business Operations oversees and manages the financial operations, business processes, and related services within the Show Low Unified School District.

This includes ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, managing the district's budget, financial reporting, payroll, procurement, and maintaining financial records. The Director collaborates closely with other departments, including Human Resources, to ensure data integrity and alignment between staffing and payroll processes.

The role also involves leadership of the Business Services Department, fostering a collaborative work environment, and ensuring that financial operations support the district's strategic goals and educational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Department Management: Lead and supervise the Business Services Department, providing guidance and support to staff. Conduct regular performance evaluations and manage staff development. Foster a collaborative environment between the Business Services Department and other district departments and schools to ensure alignment with district goals.

Collaborate closely with the Human Resources department to ensure payroll and staffing data accuracy. Financial Operations and Reporting: Oversee all payroll functions, including payroll processing, deductions, and maintaining accurate payroll records. Manage district financial obligations, ensuring timely and accurate payments for goods and services.

Maintain accurate financial records and provide monthly financial reports to the School Board and administration. Prepares the district's annual budget, ensuring alignment with district priorities and compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations. Prepares the district's Annual Financial Report, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations.

Oversee the preparation and submission of required state and federal financial reports, including grant applications and compliance documents. Procurement and Compliance: Oversee the district's procurement process, ensuring compliance with procurement laws and regulations. Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely and efficient execution of contracts.

Ensure compliance with all district policies and legal regulations related to procurement, grants, and financial obligations. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with the Grants Management Specialist and Director of State and Federal Programs to ensure proper financial oversight of all grants. Reconcile district financial records with county offices and ensure all financial reporting is accurate and timely.

Coordinate with other departments, such as instructional programs and school services, to ensure alignment between financial operations and the district's needs. Audit and Compliance Leadership: Serve as the district's liaison for state-mandated audits and ensure full compliance with audit requirements. Assists with the monitoring of the district's attendance and enrollment processes, ensuring accurate reporting to the Arizona Department of Education.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies governing district financial operations. Other Responsibilities: Provide leadership and strategic planning support for district financial matters, ensuring the district's financial operations are well-managed and aligned with educational goals.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and School Governing Board. Required Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in school district leadership or equivalent business operations experience. Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting, and budgeting practices.

Familiarity with the Uniform System of Financial Records for Arizona School Districts (USFR). Proficiency in computerized accounting systems; experience with Visions software preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks efficiently. Must possess an IVP fingerprint clearance card and pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field. Experience with grant management and compliance reporting. Previous leadership experience in a school district or similar educational setting. Knowledge of procurement processes and laws. Experience with state and federal financial reporting requirements.

Physical Requirements: Ability to work in an office setting and manage desk-based tasks for extended periods. Ability to travel to district schools and external locations for meetings, inspections, and audits. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
