Operations Lead

Edinburgh, City ofFull-timeLeadPosted Nov 6, 2026

Job description

Destiny Student | Multi-Site Operations Ready to take the lead on an operation where no two days, sites or summers look quite the same? We’re looking for an experienced, energetic and commercially minded Operations Lead to join Destiny Student. This is a hands-on, multi-site role with real variety. You’ll lead teams, oversee the day-to-day operation of our accommodation, manage reservations, build relationships with partners and suppliers, solve problems and help turn our buildings into brilliant summer accommodation experiences for guests.

If you’re someone who likes being close to the operation, enjoys making things work better and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves when something needs sorted, we want to hear from you. What you'll be doing Lead the operation You’ll oversee day-to-day operations across multiple Destiny Student locations, supporting and managing accommodation teams, housekeeping and external partners while ensuring our sites consistently hit operational targets and KPIs.

You’ll be visible, hands-on and ready to step in when needed, particularly during our busy summer season. Own the guest experience A great stay doesn’t happen by accident. You’ll make sure our buildings, rooms and communal areas are ready for guests, standards remain high throughout the season and operational problems are dealt with quickly.

You’ll also take ownership of more complex guest queries, complaints, calls, emails and reviews. Drive reservations Reservations are a significant part of this role. You’ll oversee the reservations process throughout the year, managing it directly during the quieter season and leading the wider reservations team during summer.

You’ll focus on accuracy, efficiency, occupancy and revenue, continually looking for smarter ways of working. Build our summer operation Our summer business requires a huge amount of planning before the first guest ever walks through the door. You’ll help mobilise our seasonal accommodation, ensuring buildings are properly set up with equipment, bedding, guest information and everything else needed to open successfully.

At the end of the season, you’ll help manage the demobilisation process too. Lead brilliant teams You’ll recruit, onboard, train and manage seasonal team members and act as a key point of support for the teams you lead. You’ll coach people, set clear expectations and create an environment where teams are motivated to deliver excellent customer service and strong commercial results.

Manage partners and suppliers You’ll build strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors, vendors and other external partners. You’ll help manage performance, service standards and contracts, making sure our partners deliver what our operation and our guests need. Keep standards high From maintenance and linen deliveries to housekeeping reports, keys, payments and stock, you'll make sure the operational detail is under control.

You’ll also take an active role in Health & Safety, including inspections, audits, training, corrective actions and incident reporting. Who we're looking for You don’t need to tick every box, but you’ll need to be someone who can take ownership and make things happen. Ideally, you'll bring: Proven leadership and people-management experience.

A track record of delivering consistent operational results. Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions. Experience handling complaints and more challenging customer situations. Excellent organisation and attention to detail. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to manage several priorities and deadlines at the same time.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel. A proactive, self-starting approach. A genuine interest in improving processes and finding more efficient ways of working. Experience within hotels, hostels, accommodation or hospitality would be an advantage, but it isn't essential. The person behind the job title We're looking for someone who sees a problem and thinks "let's sort it" .

Someone who can jump between the bigger operational picture and the small details that make a building work. You'll need to be comfortable leading from the front, making decisions under pressure and working with different teams, buildings, partners and priorities. Most importantly, you’ll care about delivering a brilliant experience for our guests and creating an operation our teams can be proud of.

A role with variety This isn't a desk-only Operations role. Destiny Student operates across multiple cities and you'll be expected to travel between locations, particularly during the summer season. At times this may involve spending extended periods working in another city. There will also be elements of the position supporting CODE sites throughout the year , giving the role exposure to different parts of the wider operation.

Why join us? You’ll have the opportunity to influence how our operation works, build and develop teams, improve processes and play a major part in delivering our summer business. It's a great opportunity for someone who wants genuine operational responsibility and variety , rather than sitting on the sidelines of the business.

Think you've got what it takes? We'd love to hear from you.
