Fuel Equipment Technician (FET) Location: GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy, Wilmington Fuel Services Team, GE Castle Hayne, Wilmington, NC Travel: Up to 50% (domestic and international) Benefits Medical: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC Dental and vision: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC Voluntary plans offered through The Hartford 401(k), no company match 15 days of paid time off per year 12 paid holidays per year Position Summary The Fuel Equipment Technician supports inspections of fuel rods within nuclear fuel assemblies.
This includes fuel sipping inspections that detect fuel rod deficiencies. The technician prepares and refurbishes fuel inspection tooling, and travels to domestic and international customer sites to support nuclear outages.
Essential Functions
Support fuel rod and fuel assembly inspections, including fuel sipping. Prepare and refurbish fuel inspection tooling. Travel to customer sites to service nuclear outages (up to 50% travel). Keep accurate databases for all equipment. Keep current certifications for all equipment. Keep facilities, equipment and work areas clean and orderly.
Follow safety regulations and procedures for all assigned duties. Complete work schedules that meet the client's needs. Keep information confidential. Develop plans to increase deliverables and reduce costs under the PSA. Attend weekly team meetings and staff meetings when asked, for feedback. Support other areas of operation as needed, such as CRD and MODS.
Carry out other directives from the Lead Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder) Mechanically and electrically inclined Able to read complex tool drawings Comfortable working at heights Documented experience with Microsoft Office Willing to pass a background screening Willing to pass drug and alcohol screening at application and at random Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree, or equivalent work experience, in electronics At least 1 year of experience with GE Hitachi tooling Electronic or ultrasonic experience Familiarity with radiation worker safety Documented experience with Oracle Prior experience handling fuel rods or bundles Physical Requirements Stand for extended periods Work at heights, on or off scaffolds Wear a fall-protection harness Lift and carry up to 50 lbs Push, pull, lift, climb and reach as the job requires Work in confined spaces Work in high-heat environments Pass respirator fit tests Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action Sonic Systems International is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
