JOB SUMMARY
Excelerate Energy is looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager to support our operations in Jamaica and the broader Caribbean region. This full-time role will focus on building and maintaining a strong local and regional accounting and compliance framework while supporting business growth. This role will work closely with the Houston accounting leadership team, local business stakeholders, and third-party advisors across the Caribbean to support day-to-day accounting operations, statutory compliance, financial reporting, and business decision-making in a growing regional environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to the following activities: Lead the accounting function for Jamaica and support other Caribbean entities, ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements, IFRS, U.S. GAAP reporting packages, and internal control requirements. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, financial statement reviews, and timely submission of reporting packages to corporate.
Coordinate statutory financial statements, annual returns, and external audits across the region, and serve as the primary contact for local auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities. Oversee compliance with Jamaica and Caribbean tax requirements, including corporate income tax, GCT/VAT where applicable, payroll-related filings, and statutory employer contributions such as NIS, NHT, and HEART, as well as other recurring statutory obligations.
Manage relationships with third-party service providers and ensure local processes are aligned with company policies, internal controls, and regional business needs. Support business partners in operations, commercial, treasury, tax, and FP&A by providing clear financial analysis, practical guidance, and decision support.
Work with business partners to prepare budget, forecast and variance analysis for local operations. Monitor compliance calendars, entity registrations, and local filing deadlines across the region, including coordination of changes in business structure, registrations, and other legal entity matters. Assist with implementation of new accounting standards, process improvements, ERP enhancements, and special projects to strengthen the control environment and scalability of regional operations.
Support ad hoc business, accounting, compliance, and reporting requirements as needed. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership role supporting multinational or multi-entity operations. Strong knowledge of IFRS and U.S.
GAAP, with the ability to manage local statutory reporting and corporate reporting requirements in parallel. Practical experience with Jamaica statutory and tax requirements strongly preferred, including corporate income tax, GCT, payroll-related compliance, and annual filing obligations. Broader Caribbean or CARICOM experience is a strong plus, particularly across jurisdictions with varying VAT/GST, payroll, audit, and company secretarial requirements.
Experience coordinating external audits, statutory financial statements, and third-party accounting, tax, or payroll service providers. Strong systems knowledge, including ERP experience such as SAP; experience with reporting tools and Microsoft Excel required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; advanced degree is a plus.
Professional accounting qualification preferred, such as ICAJ Chartered Accountant, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent regional designation. Strong English communication skills required; additional Caribbean language capability is a plus depending on business needs. Able to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and operate effectively in a lean, hands-on regional environment.
Proficiency in SAP preferred. Proficient level of experience with Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs required. Strong work ethic and sense of urgency required. Customer service orientation, with excellent follow-up and follow-through expected. Strong influencing, collaboration, and critical thinking skills required.
