A global life sciences organization is seeking an IP Manager to join its Corporate Strategy & Intellectual Property function in Tokyo. This role offers exposure to international IP activities and close collaboration with overseas teams, supporting a growing portfolio of innovative medical technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Support global patent portfolio management and patent prosecution activities in Japan and abroad Identify patentable inventions and contribute to IP strategy in collaboration with R&D and business teams Liaise with international IP teams and external counsel on patent, FTO, and contractual matters Review IP-related clauses in commercial, supplier, and research agreements Contribute to IP awareness, training, and cross-functional collaboration Requirements 5+ years of experience in patent prosecution, search, or portfolio management Background in life sciences, medical devices, or related technical fields Strong business-level English communication skills Patent attorney qualification is a plus Proactive, collaborative mindset with the ability to work in global environments
