Deputy

Deputy Location: Windsor, VT Job Summary The Deputy will assist the Sheriff and other law enforcement officials in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within Windsor, VT. This role involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergency calls, conducting investigations, and collaborating with community members to promote a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect criminal activity. Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents. Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and interview witnesses. Enforce local, state, and federal laws and ordinances. Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations.

Attend court proceedings and provide testimony as required. Participate in training and professional development activities.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice preferred. Completion of a certified law enforcement training academy. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and law enforcement procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle stressful and emergency situations calmly and effectively.

Physical fitness and ability to perform the duties of the position. Prior law enforcement or military experience is a plus. Work Environment Deputies work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. The role may require shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Deputies must be prepared to respond to emergencies at any time.
