This program is designed for students to observe the role and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN), perform a variety of skills learned as a nursing student, ease the transition from student to Graduate#Nurse, and provide student nurses an opportunity to enhance their clinical skills.

In the program, student nurses from BSN/ADN programs with senior status as of the following Fall semester are selected as Nurse Interns (NI).# Each NI is assigned to an RN who serves as the NI Preceptor.# The NI will function under the direct supervision of his/her RN monitoring during the program. Potential departments include: Medical-Surgical Critical Care Women and Children Surgical Services Other specialty departments # Some of the skills that an Intern can perform are:# Tube Feedings# Suctioning (oral, nasal, tracheal) Venipuncture under supervision Basic C.
