Associate Advisor
Job description
About Us
Bartholomew & Company is a financial services firm headquartered in Worcester, MA managing approximately $6 billion in assets across two divisions: Governments and Institutions, which serves public entities and institutional clients, and Private Wealth, which serves individuals, families, and business owners. This role can be based in our Worcester, MA or Framingham, MA office within our Private Wealth division, which manages approximately $2.
5 billion for clients across the country. We take a disciplined, client-centered approach to wealth management, tailoring strategies to each client's goals and risk tolerance. Our deep expertise in institutional asset management provides clients with access to opportunities, sophistication, and diversification not typically available to individual investors.
About the Role
This full-time, salaried position is a client-focused advisory support role designed for professionals who want to build and apply their knowledge of financial planning, investments, and wealth management while contributing meaningfully to client experience and outcomes. Working closely with Wealth Advisor(s) and other members of the advisory team, the Associate Advisor supports client relationships, meeting preparation and follow-up, financial planning activities, investment-related needs, and business development initiatives.
Over time, the role provides opportunities to deepen technical expertise, expand client-facing responsibilities, and develop greater ownership of client relationships. The Associate Advisor role is designed to support multiple career paths within Bartholomew & Company. For individuals who aspire to become a Wealth Advisor, the position provides the experience, mentorship, licensure, professional development, and client exposure necessary to progress toward an independent Wealth Advisor role.
For individuals who prefer to build a long-term career as a highly skilled, planning-focused member of an advisory team, the Associate Advisor may also serve as a rewarding career role focused on client service, planning support, relationship management, and advisor partnership. Success in the role is defined by the Associate Advisor's contribution to clients, the advisory team, and the firm — not solely by progression to a Wealth Advisor position.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Learning & Professional Development Pursue and obtain FINRA licensure (SIE, Series 7, Series 66) within the timeframe specified. Actively participate in firm training, advisor mentorship programs, and professional development activities. Study toward professional designations as directed by management.
Shadow Wealth Advisor(s) in client meetings and progressively assume responsibility for defined portions of meetings as readiness is demonstrated. Client Service & Relationship Support Assist licensed Wealth Advisor(s) with client meeting preparation, presentation materials, meeting agendas, and follow-up activities. Gather and organize client financial data in support of financial planning development and ongoing client reviews.
Respond to routine client inquiries under the supervision and direction of a licensed wealth advisor. Maintain accurate client records and document client interactions, decisions, and follow-up items in the CRM system (Wealth. Box). Develop familiarity with client relationships and service standards in order to assume increasing client-facing responsibility over time, including proactive client outreach.
Financial Planning & Advisory Support Support the preparation of financial planning analyses and recommendations using firm-approved planning tools and processes (Right Capital, Holistiplan, others as appropriate). Build working knowledge of the firm's investment philosophy, planning approach, client segmentation, and service model.
Develop the ability to explain core financial planning and investment concepts clearly and accurately to clients and internal team members. Coordinate with advisors, teammates, and other internal resources to ensure planning and investment-related follow-up is completed accurately and on time. Business Development & Team Growth Develop the relationship-building and discovery skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to new client acquisition and asset growth.
Participate in firm-sponsored community, client, and business-development events, as appropriate. Begin building and maintaining a professional network and pipeline of prospective clients under the guidance of wealth advisors. Support Advisors in prospecting activities, including materials preparation, opportunity tracking, and follow-up coordination.

Pursue Excellence: Holds work to a high standard rather than the minimum required, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail across client data, financial planning documentation, and compliance records, as errors can directly impact client outcomes and firm compliance, while continually looking for ways to improve accuracy, clarity, and quality.
Stay Humble. Be Curious: Demonstrates genuine enthusiasm for financial markets, planning concepts, and the wealth management profession through inquisitiveness, and is receptive to feedback and actively applies mentorship to develop technical expertise and understanding of the advisory process.
