Job description
Material Handler (Water Spider) – $22-27/hour At MPE we are dedicated to making a difference in the world through cutting-edge medical technology. Our mission is to be the global leader in design, engineering, and manufacturing solutions for the medical and technology industries. We are committed to creating impactful solutions that improve lives and fostering an environment where our team members can thrive, grow, and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in the medical field.
A better career for you. Creating medical technology for all. We are seeking a dedicated Material Handler (Water Spider) to join our team. In this vital role, you will keep two assembly lines running smoothly by delivering, preparing, and removing materials on a set route, so production team members can stay focused on building product.
You will be the link between logistics, inventory, and production, helping eliminate bottlenecks and keep material flowing using lean manufacturing principles. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where precision and teamwork matter, we’d love to hear from you! Shift Available: First Shift 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday Key Responsibilities: Make sure materials and supplies are at the right workstation at the right time, following just-in-time (JIT) principles to prevent delays and overstocking.
Follow a standard route through assigned workstations to replenish kanban bins, parts, and consumables, verifying part accuracy along the way. Prepare materials for use, including unpacking parts from containers and staging components. Support workstation changeovers and help less experienced team members when needed.
Follow a defined work sequence and complete a clear set of tasks during each round. Remove excess materials after assembly runs, and collect empty containers, packaging, and dunnage for recycling or reuse. Identify and resolve material flow issues during the shift, and suggest ways to reduce waste and improve efficiency and ergonomics.
Coordinate with team leaders, receiving, fabrication, and paint to keep materials available and aligned with production schedules. Follow all safety requirements, including proper PPE use, safe operation of forklifts and tuggers, and keeping walkways clear.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience and Training: 12+ months of material handling experience, ideally in material movement for assembly processes. Ability to read production schedules, kanban cards, and inventory lists. Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and reporting. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Clear verbal communication skills for coordinating across departments. Forklift and/or tugger certification preferred; training is provided. Familiarity with JIT and kanban replenishment systems preferred. Lean or continuous improvement experience a plus. Physical and Mental Demands: Continuously walk a defined route between workstations and stand, maintaining a steady work pace to meet production timing.
Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds; bend, reach, and crouch to access bins and staged components; push or pull carts and tuggers; unpack and stage materials; and read kanban cards, work instructions, and schedules. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, climb on and off material handling equipment, operate a forklift or tugger, and use a computer.
Intermittently sit (such as while driving a tugger) and kneel. Work is performed in a manufacturing plant with machinery, moderate noise levels, and varying temperatures. Overtime may be required during peak production periods. Why Join Us? Mission-Driven Work: Help deliver medical products that change lives. Growth Opportunities: We support career development and internal promotions.
Comprehensive Benefits: Medical (HSA-qualified and traditional plans), dental, and vision—coverage starts the first of the month after hire. 401(k) with company match. Nine paid holidays and vacation time from day one. If you’re detail-oriented, team-driven, and ready to contribute to life-changing medical technology, apply today and grow your career at MPE.
