Teacher, Itinerant Special Education - (General Pool)
Job description
This is an ongoing hiring need for the 2025/2026 school year and this general pool will remain open until all positions are filled. About this job: Itinerant Special Education (SPED) Float Teachers work with students with disabilities. They adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects to students with mild to moderate disabilities. They also teach basic skills to students with severe disabilities. This position requires an ability and willingness to work as a float teacher, and this position requires frequent travel throughout the district. What You'll Do
Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding. Provide instruction based on the students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, related service providers, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems. Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style. May participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers' collective bargaining agreement (this is for coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, etc. for Dept.
of Labor laws). What You’ll Need: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required; Master’s degree is preferred Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. Experience working with students with disabilities who represent the diversity of the District school community is preferred.
