The Department of Psychology houses the largest undergraduate program at Sacred Heart University, serving approximately 500 full-time psychology majors, 30 part-time majors, and more than 300 minors. The department offers both a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in psychology, along with several accelerated and dual-degree pathways.

Students receive a strong foundation in psychological science, research methodology, and the diverse areas of the discipline. The curriculum emphasizes experiential learning through faculty-student research collaborations, service-learning opportunities, internships, and study-abroad courses. Courses may be offered in person, asynchronously online, or in a hybrid format that combines weekly in-person instruction with online coursework.

Preference will be given to candidates who are available to teach in-person or hybrid courses.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned undergraduate psychology courses in accordance with established course objectives and departmental expectations Create an engaging and supportive learning environment Provide students with timely feedback and maintain regular communication throughout the course Collaborate with the Department Chair and faculty as appropriate Fulfill responsibilities associated with the assigned course modality Qualifications: A master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field is required A Ph.

D. is preferred; ABD candidates will also be considered College-level teaching experience is preferred Experience teaching in-person, hybrid, or asynchronous online courses is desirable Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills Commitment to creating a collegial and supportive environment in which all members of the University community can thrive and succeed Application Instructions: Qualified applicants are invited to submit a letter of interest, current CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and relevant examples from courses taught (if applicable).

Compensation

& Benefits: The salary range for this position is $4,300–$5,400 per 3-credit course. Adjunct Instructors are not eligible to participate in the University’s employee health and welfare benefit programs; however, they are eligible to participate in Sacred Heart University’s 403(b) retirement plan, subject to the terms and eligibility requirements of the plan .
