About the Role
As a Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients across various healthcare settings. You will be responsible for dispensing prescription medications accurately while providing expert advice on drug interactions, side effects, and proper medication usage.
Your role
will involve collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy management and improve patient outcomes. Additionally, you will contribute to hospital and retail pharmacy operations, including immunization services and patient counseling. Ultimately, your expertise will support the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care that enhances patient health and safety throughout the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution. Valid pharmacist license to practice in the United States. Strong knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacoeconomics, and clinical pharmacy practices. Experience in medication therapy management and patient counseling. Familiarity with hospital and retail pharmacy operations and pharmacy benefit management.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in immunization delivery (e.g., APhA Immunization Certification). Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management software. Advanced training or certification in clinical pharmacy or pharmacoeconomics. Previous experience working in a hospital or large retail pharmacy setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Conduct medication therapy management to assess, monitor, and optimize patient medication regimens. Provide patient counseling on medication use, potential side effects, and health maintenance strategies.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure appropriate medication selection and dosage adjustments. Manage pharmacy inventory and ensure proper storage and handling of medications. Administer immunizations and educate patients on vaccine benefits and schedules. Utilize pharmacoeconomics principles to support cost-effective medication use and formulary decisions.
Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation. Participate in hospital pharmacy and retail pharmacy operations, including pharmacy benefit management. Demonstrate manual dexterity in preparing and dispensing medications safely. Skills: The required skills such as pharmacoeconomics and medication therapy management are essential for evaluating and optimizing medication use to ensure cost-effectiveness and patient safety.
Hospital and clinical pharmacy expertise enable the pharmacist to work effectively within healthcare teams, managing complex medication regimens and providing critical patient care. Retail pharmacy skills, including pharmacy benefit management, support efficient operations and patient access to medications. Immunization and patient counseling skills are vital for preventive care and educating patients on health maintenance.
Manual dexterity is necessary for the precise preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring accuracy and safety in daily pharmacy tasks.
