About the Role

The Warehouse Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of warehouse activities, focusing on the accurate and timely handling of goods. This position involves managing the receipt, storage, and dispatch of products while maintaining strict inventory control to support overall supply chain effectiveness.

The Warehouse Assistant collaborates closely with team members to optimize warehouse layout and workflow, ensuring safety and compliance with company policies. Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience in shipping and receiving or general warehouse operations. Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently. Basic computer skills for inventory control and warehouse management system usage. Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, standing, and moving materials for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in forklift operation. Experience with electric pallet jacks and advanced warehouse management software. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and warehouse safety protocols. Previous experience in a fast-paced distribution or logistics environment. Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments to verify accuracy and quality. Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to company standards and customer requirements. Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and manual pallet jacks safely to move inventory within the warehouse. Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and data entry into warehouse management systems.

Assist in organizing the warehouse layout to maximize space utilization and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve discrepancies and improve warehouse processes. Perform general manual labor tasks including loading and unloading trucks, stacking pallets, and maintaining cleanliness of the warehouse environment.

Skills: The required skills such as shipping and receiving expertise and inventory control are essential for managing the flow of goods accurately and efficiently on a daily basis. Proficiency in operating pallet jacks, both manual and electric, as well as forklifts, enables the Warehouse Assistant to handle materials safely and reduce the risk of damage or injury.
