Commercial Director Job Description Responsibilities Reporting to the CMCO Vice President of Sales US Hoist & Crane, the Commercial Director of Nutting Carts & Trailers is responsible for leading the overall commercial performance of the Nutting division, including sales, marketing, and financial results. The Commercial Director will be fully responsible for driving profitable growth of the Nutting industrial cart and trailer business unit.
Specifically, the Commercial Director will be tasked to grow the business by successfully developing and executing a comprehensive growth strategy through both distribution and direct sales channels. This will include setting marketing strategies, and managing daily lead generation on digital platforms, and working collaboratively with the CMCO functional management teams.
Specific responsibilities will include: Provide direct leadership and oversight for all commercial aspects of the Nutting business, including planning, sales, and marketing to ensure profitability targets are met. Direct sales and marketing strategy, including dealer network management, pricing, quoting, trade show planning, and brand development initiatives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, dealers, and OEMs to support business growth and long-term partnerships. Execute strategic growth initiatives that support the company’s annual operating plan and long-term expansion objectives. Collaborate cross-functionally with corporate functions including Finance, HR, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure consistency across all business operations.
Maintain a professional presence in the field through customer visits, dealer meetings, trade shows, and corporate initiatives. Travel expected no more than 25% on a needed basis. The person in this role will help the organization achieve: Consistent growth in revenue, profitability, and market share through integrated commercial leadership.
Alignment between sales, production, and financial performance to ensure sustainable business results. Build stronger relationships with customers and dealers that enhance Nutting’s brand position within the CMCO portfolio. Increased accountability and performance across all levels of the commercial organization through structured KPIs and team development.
A strong culture of safety, engagement, and ownership throughout the business. Professional Experiences and Qualities The ideal candidate is an accomplished business leader with demonstrated success managing and driving commercial growth within an organization. This individual should have a strong background in a sales leadership role within a complex manufacturing environment.
The Commercial Director must be a hands-on, high-integrity leader who can effectively balance strategic thinking with practical execution. The ideal candidate should also possess, at minimum, the following qualifications and attributes: 5-7 years commercial leadership experience and a proven track record of growing technical B2B sales through distribution sales channels with direct end-user engagement is required.
Proven track record of success in commercial leadership roles and experience managing sales channels, dealer networks, and key customer relationships. Strong financial and analytical skills with a focus on performance metrics and profitability. Strong P&L knowledge preferred. Experience developing and executing business strategies that achieve growth regularly.
Ability to be proactive, manage projects from start to finish, identify problems and implement countermeasures. Hands-on, outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic personality required. Excellent communicator capable of working effectively across all levels of the organization. Ability to multitask and prioritize amid frequent distractions in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment. Process focused and a background driving Lean thinking and implementing continuous improvement in both commercial and operational environments is a benefit.
Education
