Job description
ServiceNow Developer Improvix Technologies | Federal Program | Fully Remote Compensation: $165,000 – $185,000 Location: Fully Remote (U.S.) Clearance: Active Secret preferred. Uncleared candidates are encouraged to apply — we sponsor for the right person. Employment Type: Full-Time Levels: Hiring at both Developer and Senior Developer levels — apply once and we’ll match you to the right one.
ANYONE CAN CUSTOMIZE AN INSTANCE. THE SKILL IS KNOWING WHEN NOT TO. Every ServiceNow instance drifts the same direction. A requirement lands that baseline almost handles, someone writes a script to close the last ten percent, and it works — it genuinely does. Repeat that for four years across three contractors and you have an instance nobody wants to upgrade, where a meaningful share of the Business Rules fire for reasons that left with the person who wrote them.
Improvix Technologies is hiring ServiceNow Developers at the mid and senior levels for an active federal program. You'll build real things — custom applications, Service Catalog items, Flow Designer automation, IntegrationHub integrations, and the server- and client-side scripting underneath all of it — with the judgment to recognize when baseline, configured well, is the better answer than another clever script.
The role is fully remote, and we're filling specific seats on a live program rather than collecting résumés for a bench. If you're a good fit, you'll hear from us quickly. WHY DEVELOPERS TAKE THIS ROLE Genuinely remote. A federal ServiceNow role you can do from anywhere in the U.S. is rare — cleared platform work is almost always tied to a building.
This one isn't, and it hasn't been from the start. We'll sponsor the clearance. An active Secret helps, but it isn't a wall. For the right person we'll sponsor the investigation and carry you through it. That clearance then follows you for the rest of your career, and it changes what roles exist for you. Real platform work, not form-filling.
Service Catalog, Flow Designer, custom applications, IntegrationHub, and the Glide scripting underneath. You won't spend a year closing catalog tickets. Two levels, one application. Tell us what you've done and we'll place you. There's a senior tier above the developer seat and a genuine path between them, not a title you have to leave to get.
Standards that get enforced. Code review that actually happens, ATF coverage, real update set and release discipline. If you've worked somewhere that treated “we'll fix it in the next release” as a process, this will feel different. WHAT YOU'LL OWN Build & Configure Design, develop, test, and deploy ServiceNow configurations, custom applications, and automated workflows.
Write the scripting that holds it together — server-side and client-side JavaScript, Glide APIs, Business Rules, Script Includes, and ACLs. Know the difference between configuring the platform and fighting it, and make the call that the next developer will thank you for. Service Catalog & Workflow Automation Build advanced Service Catalog items, including catalog client scripts, UI policies, variable sets, and record producers.
Design and build Flow Designer automations that are readable by someone who didn't build them. Make the request experience something people use willingly rather than route around. ITSM Platform Support ongoing improvement and optimization of core ITSM modules — Incident, Problem, Change, Request, and Knowledge Management.
Partner with functional and admin teams on process design, and push back when a requested configuration will cause trouble two releases from now. Integrations Design and implement integrations with third-party systems using REST and SOAP web services and IntegrationHub. Build the transforms, error handling, and retry behavior that keep an integration running after the person who built it moves on.
Quality & Release Execute unit, integration, and regression testing with the goal of clean deployments rather than fast ones. Maintain update sets, release documentation, and technical design records so a release can be explained and, if necessary, reversed. Identify risks, dependencies, and design gaps early in the development lifecycle, when they're still cheap to fix.
Collaboration & Technical Leadership Participate in client calls and technical design discussions, translating business requirements into clear, actionable solutions. Mentor developers and promote ServiceNow best practices across the team. (Senior level.) Support release management, peer reviews, and governance and compliance checks.
(Senior level.) WHAT YOU BRING These are the requirements — everything in “Bonus Points” below is genuinely optional. If you meet this list, apply. For Developer 3+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development and configuration experience. Strong scripting ability on the platform: server-side and client-side JavaScript, Glide APIs, Business Rules, and Script Includes.
Experience building Service Catalog items, workflows or Flow Designer automations, and integrations. ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD). Familiarity with Agile or Scrum delivery environments. Strong communication skills and the ability to work across technical and functional teams. Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a technical team.
U.S. citizenship. An active Secret clearance is preferred; we will sponsor the right candidate. For Senior Developer — the above, plus 6+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development, including experience guiding or mentoring other developers. At least one Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification — ITSM preferred.
Demonstrated ownership of complex builds from requirements through rollout. A track record of setting or enforcing development standards on a team, and of representing technical solutions in client-facing discussions. BONUS POINTS A Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification at the Developer level — ITSM, CSM, or another track.
Hands-on proficiency with the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF). Experience with release coordination, version control, and automated testing strategies. Prior experience in federal or defense contracting environments. Development experience outside ServiceNow — JavaScript, REST and SOAP integrations, or other platforms.
Working knowledge of ITSM, asset and configuration management, and ITIL practice. Experience with Service Portal, UI Builder, or the Now Experience framework. An active Secret or Top Secret clearance already in hand. WORKING HERE Improvix Technologies delivers secure, modern, integrated technology solutions that keep the nation's most critical systems running.
We're small enough that a good idea reaches a decision-maker in a day, and close enough to the mission that you'll know exactly what your work supports. On remote work: this role is fully remote within the U.S., and we mean it — no quiet expectation that you'll relocate to DC in six months, and no “remote for now.” You'll need to be reachable during East Coast business hours to stay in sync with the program, and that's the extent of it.
An honest word about clearance sponsorship: we will sponsor, and we don't say that lightly — most firms won't. What we can't do is make the process fast. An investigation takes as long as it takes, and we'll be straight with you about where things stand rather than going quiet. If you already hold a Secret, you'll start sooner; if you don't, the offer is real and the timeline is honest.
On customization: we are not purists. Sometimes the business need genuinely isn't in baseline and the right answer is to build it. But the default here is to configure first, document the exception when you customize, and leave the instance in a state where the next upgrade isn't an event people dread. If you've inherited an instance where that discipline was missing, you know precisely why we care.
Ready to apply? Send us your résumé. If there's an application, an integration, or a thorny platform problem you're proud of solving — or a customization you successfully argued against — tell us about it. That's what we'll want to dig into. Why Improvix At Improvix Technologies, we don't just deliver IT solutions — we deliver mission success.
