Environmental Advisor

  • Urban Infrastructure About the Employer Our client is an infrastructure engineering and construction contractor delivering transport, civil and energy projects. Its teams work across design, construction and project delivery in Australia. The Opportunity Support environmental compliance across active Sydney station and road construction works. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will work with design, construction and client teams to put approvals, monitoring and practical environmental controls into operation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Implement and improve environmental plans, monitoring programmes and site management systems.
  • Inspect erosion and sediment controls and monitor water discharge, dust, noise and vibration.
  • Advise teams on NSW legislation, planning approvals and licence conditions.
  • Investigate incidents and unexpected finds, including contamination, and prepare corrective actions and statutory reports.
  • Audit subcontractors and suppliers and maintain compliance registers.
  • Coordinate approvals and controls with clients, authorities and utility partners.
  • Report waste, water and carbon performance and coach delivery teams in environmental practices.

Requirements

Skills, Education and Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability or a related field.
  • At least three years as an environmental advisor on major civil, road, rail or station infrastructure.
  • Experience on complex urban sites, including excavation or road construction.
  • Experience with Sydney Water assets or utility reinstatement is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of NSW environmental legislation, approvals, ERSED, waste classification and contamination controls.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder engagement.
