Safety, Health and Environment Manager - FMCG

Job Description: Safety, Health and Environment Manager Major Responsibilities;

• Ensure compliance with all relevant Safety & Environment (S&E) Legislation.
• Ensure Company safety policy, rules and procedures are understood and followed in all areas.
• Ensure legal compliance audits are conducted as per the agreed audit schedule and ensure appropriate actions are implemented in a timely fashion.
• Be responsible for ensuring that all incidents are reported, investigated and actions are implemented.
• Identify and manage budgetary requirements for the S&E department on designated sites/areas of. Responsibility;
• Assist or lead where required incident investigations on designated sites/areas of responsibility and ensure that all learnings are cascaded across the wider business.
• Perform regular DCA (deep compliance audits) and Safe Behavioral Observations (SBOs), ensuring that all audit actions are completed and hold others accountable for completing their commitments to the process.
• Ensure wider management team also complete regular DCA and Safe Behavioral Observations.
• Provide support to Operational and Technical teams in carrying out Manual Handling, Risk and COSHH assessments when required.
• Management of any Safety major incidents within areas of responsibility.
• Management of the Emergency Plan for the areas of responsibility, including updates.
• Management of the Business Continuity Plan, including updates.
• Manage on the Company’s behalf Employer Liability and Third-Party insurance claims arising from Safety or Environmental incidents.
• Responsible for management of the budget for Safety and Environment to ensure delivery of the S&E plans within target.
• Responsible for management of the waste and utilities budgets while identifying opportunities to reduce costs. Key Requirements;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on Safety, Health and Environment area.
• Environmental Qualification, Environmental Management and Assessment Certification is an asset.
• Minimum B class Safety Certificate.
• Detailed knowledge of S&E Legislation and their application to the areas of responsibility.
• Fully trained and competent in carrying out Manual Handling/Risk Assessments.
• Understanding of Safety & Environment Auditing.
• Competent in performing accident investigations.
• Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing methodology is an asset.
• Management and team leadership skills.
• Good understanding of key external stakeholders and legislative authorities e.g. HSE, EA.
• Experience in developing and delivering training.
• Knowledge of quality management and environmental systems and procedures is an asset.
