General Farm Worker

Position Description: General Farmworker Our work requires passion, precision, speed, and great stamina. Ability to join our crew in rigorous hours, through rain or shine Demonstrated commitment to sustainable agriculture A proven work history in physically demanding positions Ability to take responsibility for their work An active interest in being part of a farm community of a dozen or so people who work together very closely Apply pest controls, and fertilizer to crops and livestock; plant, maintain, and harvest food crops; and tend to livestock and poultry.

Repair farm buildings and fences. Duties may include irrigating crops. Record information about crops, such as yields, or costs. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Dig and plant seeds, or transplant seedlings by hand. Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand. Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers.

Inform farm manager of crop progress. Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops. Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.
