Job description

Counselor, Counseling and Wellness Services Felician University is presently seeking an experienced Counselor to provide individual and group counseling, workshops, discussion groups, and other programs designed to support the mental health and well-being of Felician University Students. The position is a full-time, in-person 12-month appointment.

Reporting to the Director Counseling and Wellness Services, the Counselor responds to psychological crises, provides consultation and outreach to members of the Felician Community who work with students, and develops and delivers educational and prevention programs addressing a range of mental health topics. The Counselor serves as a member of the Student Affairs team and collaborates with colleagues across divisions to promote a supportive, inclusive, and proactive campus culture focused on student well-being.

Required Education: Master’s degree in; Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related mental health field.

Qualifications

Current NJ professional license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Psychologies. Demonstrated experience providing counseling or mental health services to a college student or adult population and knowledge of current health, mental health, substance use, and social issues affecting college students and higher education communities with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to present information effectively through public speaking, workshops, training, and educational programming. Proficiency with electronic health records, electronic documentation systems, online platforms, social media, and basic office technology.

Ability to maintain professional expertise and competency through ongoing professional development, training, and continuing education. Ability to work in an office environment where a trained therapy dog is present. Ability and willingness to support and promote the Felician Franciscan core values and mission of the University.
