We are not your average workplace. Ocean Infinity is seeking experienced AUV Supervisors to join our offshore team. The AUV Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful execution of offshore AUV operations, providing technical leadership to the offshore AUV team while ensuring all project objectives are delivered to the highest operational, safety, and quality standards .
The successful candidate will lead daily offshore operations involving HUGIN Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), associated Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS), and supporting equipment aboard Ocean Infinity's state-of-the-art Armada fleet. This role requires strong leadership, sound technical judgement, and the ability to make informed operational decisions in a dynamic offshore environment where priorities can change rapidly.
What will you do? Lead and supervise all offshore AUV operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and client requirements. Act as the primary offshore point of contact for all AUV-related activities, liaising with the Vessel Master, Offshore Manager, Project Manager, Survey team, Client Representatives, and onshore support teams.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to AUV Operators and Technicians, ensuring high standards of performance and professional development. Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily AUV operations, including mission planning, launch and recovery activities, vehicle maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ensure all pre-project planning documentation, risk assessments, permits, and operational procedures are completed and reviewed prior to commencing work.
Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programmes for assigned AUV systems and ensure maintenance records are accurately maintained . Review and approve maintenance activities performed by offshore personnel while ensuring equipment remains fully operational and fit for purpose . Lead fault-finding efforts and coordinate technical support with onshore engineering teams when required .
Ensure all AUV sensors are prepared, calibrated, and validated in accordance with project specifications. Maintain overall responsibility for the operational readiness of the AUV spread, including auxiliary equipment, tooling, and Launch and Recovery Systems. Participate in project mobilisations and demobilisations globally, ensuring equipment readiness and accurate documentation.
Manage offshore inventory, spare parts, and asset control throughout project execution. Ensure all offshore personnel comply with Ocean Infinity's Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and actively promote a strong safety culture. Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and daily operational planning meetings.
Monitor environmental conditions and assess operational risk prior to launch and recovery activities. Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions where required . Lead lessons learned reviews and continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, safety, and equipment reliability.
Assist with testing, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies and research and development initiatives. Maintain technical competency with HUGIN software, payload systems, navigation systems, and emerging AUV technologies. Support departmental planning, resource forecasting, and operational reporting.
Who you are
Extensive offshore experience operating Autonomous Underwater Vehicles. Previous experience supervising offshore AUV operations or leading multidisciplinary offshore teams. Strong understanding of HUGIN AUV systems and associated Launch and Recovery Systems. Excellent knowledge of offshore survey operations and subsea intervention.
Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills. Competent with networking, IT systems, and marine survey software. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Strong decision-making ability in high-pressure operational environments.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining operational safety. Fluent in written and spoken English. Willing and able to work offshore on rotational assignments (typically 4/6-week rotations). Holds valid BOSIET (or equivalent) and Offshore Medical certification. Committed to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and developing team capability.
Desirable Previous experience supervising HUGIN AUV operations. Experience managing offshore survey or subsea inspection projects. Knowledge of Kongsberg HUGIN Operator and Payload software. Previous client-facing experience in offshore operations. Familiarity with project planning Offshore Rotation Approximately 180 offshore days per year , based on a 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off rotation.
Salary for this position: Up to $125,000 USD per annum (divided between basic salary and offshore uplif t) Salary : The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
