Requirements

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

• May be required to lift, carry, and move students in or out of wheel chairs, lift 50 lbs. or up to 100 lbs. with assistance and/or carry any object weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Sufficient physical mobility and strength to restrain, as needed, adolescent students who may be acting out frustration and/or anger.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent Requires:

• Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from DMV
• Must obtain a valid First Aid/CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency within 30 days of hire (District paid).
• Plus all other legal requirements by law or regulation.
• Working to obtaining a Class B commercial driver's license with a DMV Passenger (P) endorsement and School Bus Certificate (S) are desired.
• Any other certificates or documentation that may show your qualifications for this position Must pass the appropriate physical strength evaluation though SIA if hired. Letter of Introduction Resume Comments and Other Information Additional assigned duties include: Collecting and disposing of trash throughout the Transportation yard; Assisting mechanics with parts, equipment, and supply runs; Cleaning, detailing, and preparing spare buses and District vehicles for service; Picking up, sorting, and delivering mail to schools and other District sites; Picking up and delivering instructional supplies, equipment, and furniture; Assisting with room preparation, including moving, arranging, and setting up furniture and equipment for classrooms, special events, and meetings; Washing windows and walls, cleaning restrooms and plumbing fixtures, and cleaning drinking fountains; Replacing light bulbs and replenishing supplies as necessary; Sweeping sidewalks and walkways and picking up paper, trash, and refuse; Using ladders and appropriate hand and power tools to perform assigned duties; Performing general grounds support duties, including weeding, sweeping walkways and parking areas, collecting trash and debris, raking leaves, and trimming vegetation; and Performing other similar transportation, custodial, maintenance, delivery, or operational support duties consistent with the purpose of the expanded assignment.
