Job description

Recruit. Net International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for both domestic and overseas candidates across hospitals, nursing homes, home care and community care settings. We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Urology position with a hospital in Galway, Ireland. Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time Working Hours: 24 hours per week Closing Date: 26th October 2026 Responsibilities Coordinate and manage the urology service from the initial patient consultation through pre-assessment, treatment and discharge.

Work closely with Consultants, nursing teams, allied healthcare professionals and relevant support services to ensure coordinated patient care. Communicate assessment findings, treatment plans, care programmes and recommendations to the multidisciplinary team and other relevant personnel in line with hospital policies.

Establish and monitor appropriate quality indicators and performance metrics for the urology service. Deliver high-quality nursing care and treatments in accordance with established policies, procedures, clinical guidelines and professional standards. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care using the nursing process.

Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date patient care documentation and clinical records. Develop and implement appropriate discharge plans based on each patient's clinical and care requirements. Ensure the safe handling, segregation and disposal of clinical and medical waste in accordance with hospital policies and infection prevention and control procedures.

Requirements

Hold current registration, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Hold a relevant postgraduate clinical qualification in Urology or be actively undertaking the required qualification. Have a minimum of five years’ post-registration nursing experience, including at least one year of relevant experience in Urology.

Possess appropriate management experience and/or a relevant management qualification. Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Display a high level of professional accountability, responsibility and commitment to delivering quality patient care. Demonstrate evidence of ongoing continuing professional development relevant to the role and level of practice.

Demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing work patterns, including rotating between day shifts as required. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
