Part Time Assistant Social Skills Teacher -Various Locations

JOB SUMMARY

The Social Skills Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting the lead teacher in providing a safe, non-threatening environment conducive to helping students learn social skills and develop friendships while upholding Social Motion Skills’ standards and core values.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow teacher instruction and guidance during lessons and activities Assist in general supervision and behavior management of students Demonstrate, model, and positively reinforce desired behaviors Interact with and encourage student participation during lessons and activities Lead student activities and c oach students’ social interactions during weekly facilitated game time Accompany students on monthly community outings Facilitate social interaction among students during monthly community outings Present subject matter to students under the guidance of the lead teacher Utilize basic behavioral strategies such as prompting, modeling, and video modeling during lessons Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards Other duties as assigned PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or minimum of 2 years college hours preferred At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with autism and similar disabilities Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience 21 years or older Salary $25 - $25 per hour
