Recreation Aid

This is a NAF position with the 17th Force Support Squadron, located at the Arts & Crafts Center, within the Community Services Flight on Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas. This position is considered Flexible. The position is not guaranteed any hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. You may be required to work some nights, weekends and holidays.

As a flexible employee, you are not eligible for leave or benefits.

Operates a variety of equipment, to include computerized engravers, copiers, lettering machines, heat presses, pouring tables, kilns, mat cutters, choppers, and hand power tools, with guidance from the supervisor. Provides demonstrations and guidance on craft projects. Assists customers via telephone, email, and in person with general inquiries regarding Arts & Crafts.

Manages reservations and accepts payments. Responsible for cash and inventory accountability, operating cash register, accepting payments, and operating Point of Sale (POS) system. Responsible for cleanliness of indoor and outdoor facilities and equipment. If applicant's experience qualifies for NF-II, applicant may be immediately appointed to the NF-II position.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Practical knowledge of recreational activities rules, and procedures and/or practical knowledge of recreation activities is desirable, but not required.

Ability to safeguard and handle cash, and skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable; however no experience is required. Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to life heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier-1 background investigation.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
