Elementary School Cook Schedule: 6.5 hours per day, Monday�Friday, 10-month position following the school calendar Salary: $18.79 /hour for the 2026�2027 school year Salary & Benefits In accordance with the Windsor BOE Custodian, Maintenance, Food Service and Safety Monitor Employees (UPSEU) and the Windsor Board of Education's collective bargaining agreement, the salary range for this position for academic year 2026-2027 is $18.

79/ hour. This position includes paid sick and personal time. Please see collective bargaining agreement for more detail regarding all available types of leave provided. Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and overseeing the daily operation of an assigned elementary school kitchen. The Cook works independently and provides direction to Food Service staff to ensure safe, efficient, and timely meal service.

Essential Duties

Prepare and cook food according to standardized recipes, menus, and production needs. Portion and serve meals while following meal pattern requirements. Monitor food quantities and adjust production as needed based on meal counts. Assist with serving line setup, meal service, and cleanup. Maintain accurate production records and required documentation.

Follow food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and health department requirements. Assist with receiving, storage, inventory, and stocking of food and supplies. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely. Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen, serving, and dining areas. Assist with approved special diet and allergy accommodations.

Attend required meetings and training. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

School food service, institutional, or commercial cooking experience preferred. Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation practices. Ability to follow recipes, directions, and production schedules. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced school environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food service supplies/equipment.

Food safety certification preferred or required within applicable timeframe.
