Director of Revenue Cycle - Finance -Full-time
Job description
The Revenue Cycle Director provides strategic and operational leadership over the hospital's full revenue cycle, front to back
- Patient Access (pre-registration, registration, scheduling, and financial clearance), Health Information Management (HIM)/Coding, and Patient Financial Services (charge capture, billing, follow-up, cash posting, and adjustments) - for a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) reimbursed under the Medicare Method II election. Because the hospital bills both the facility and professional components of outpatient services on a single institutional claim under Method II, this role requires working fluency in both hospital billing (HB) and professional billing (PB) rules, physician reassignment of benefits, and the CAH's unique cost-based reimbursement structure. The Director ensures accurate, compliant, and timely reimbursement; leads the Patient Access, HIM/Coding, and PFS teams as a single, accountable revenue cycle unit; and partners with hospital leadership, providers, and the electronic health record (EHR) team to maintain a financially healthy, low-denial, low-AR-days revenue cycle from first patient contact through final cash posting.
Education
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, accounting, finance, business, or a related field required; Masters degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Related Years of Experience Required: 7 or more years of progressive revenue cycle experience, including supervisory or management experience, required; Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic experience strongly preferred.
Epic experience highly preferred, including familiarity with HB and PB workqueues, claim edits, and charge routing. Experience leading Patient Access and/or HIM/Coding functions, in addition to billing/PFS, strongly preferred; comfort managing across the full revenue cycle rather than a single segment. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or similar coding/billing certification a plus; RHIA/RHIT credential or direct HIM leadership background a plus.
Shift: Working 40 hours a week, Monday
- Friday, day shift. Relocation Assistance Available!
