Director or Experienced Associate Director, Business Development France The Role Barings has further ambitious plans for the expansion of the French market and, to this end, is seeking to recruit a Director or an experienced Associate Director who will work along a senior director, based in our Paris office, to further develop and drive the business activities across Barings liquid and illiquid capabilities.
The Sales person will have the following remit: Further development the French market for Barings, across our liquid and illiquid asset classes focusing both on institutional prospecting as well as targeting the top-end of the wealth market. The person takes ownership for their client segment, predominantly the tier one and two accounts and prospects.
This includes expanding and deepening relationships with existing clients as well as developing new business opportunities. The individual will work along the senior director in the Barings Paris office and be part of its French coverage team. Gathering assets from new and existing clients Institutional clients, as well as managing the relationship with those clients in all aspects.
Further, this individual will also work with large distributors in France, international organizations and local distributors, both on liquid strategies as well as our alternatives into wealth effort, which is a key goal in the business development effort. To promote the company as a strong investment brand. Owning and meeting/exceeding annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts.
Executing against a strategic plan for France to achieve sales targets and expand customer base in addition to actively contribute to the wider European business plan. Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships. Core Knowledge Key knowledge of the French institutional- and wealth market. A thorough knowledge of key competition and the competitive environment in France.
Knowledge of Investment markets and relevant products in France and for the French market. A good working knowledge of the legal and regulatory provisions associated with the role. Core Skills Proven sales experience, meeting or exceeding sales targets within assigned client franchises. Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
Excellent internal and external communications skills. Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to build and improve personal relationships with a diverse range of people/personalities. Languages – French native and English are essential. Entrepreneurial Spirit Results-oriented and focused on accomplishments rather than activity.
The ability to establish new client relationships as well as the relationship management skills to work productively with existing clients. Act as a credible representative of Barings at the highest levels of client interaction as well as be able to articulate complex investment processes to a diverse client audience.
Collaborative style and Intercultural Awareness A strong team player and consensus builder who balances high levels of individual drive and motivation with a desire to work as part of a broader international team and business, sharing information, best practices and support. Close collaboration with client portfolio managers, client services managers and other teams.
Able to grasp and work across the nuances of the French institutional- and wealth market. Readiness to travel within Europe to build relationships within Barings, availability for meetings with colleagues and external events. Take part in the projects across borders and help drive topics and bring new perspectives to the discussion.
