Preschool Assistant

Preschool Assistant The Preschool Assistant supports the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. The assistant works collaboratively with the teacher to support daily classroom routines, learning activities, supervision, and the social, emotional, physical, and early academic development of students.

The Preschool Assistant helps prepare and organize classroom materials, learning centers, and activities; assists students during instructional and play-based activities; and provides individual attention and encouragement as needed. The assistant supports classroom routines such as arrival, dismissal, transitions, meals, rest periods, toileting, and personal hygiene while promoting age-appropriate independence and self-help skills.

The Preschool Assistant actively supervises students and helps maintain a clean, orderly, and safe classroom environment. The assistant supports positive behavior through consistent, age-appropriate guidance and helps foster an environment where children feel valued, secure, and encouraged to learn and interact positively with others.

The assistant works under the direction of the lead teacher and cooperates with other faculty and staff to meet the needs of students and the classroom. The assistant communicates relevant observations or concerns to the lead teacher and maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding student and family information. The Preschool Assistant is expected to demonstrate patience, flexibility, dependability, professionalism, and a genuine interest in working with young children.

The position requires a commitment to supporting the whole child and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and Christ-centered school environment. *This position is TEMPORARY, beginning in October through December.
