Computer Works Technician

Position Summary

Support and maintain retail sales computer systems within GWH’s Computer Works area. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal performance. Troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion. To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of CW to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.

Process and display merchandise and provide excellent customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluate donated computers and assess their value. Perform the refurbishment of computer equipment to restore units to like-new working conditions and/or appearance for the sales floor. Install an operating system on computers & configure it to CW standards. Perform minor upgrades as needed. Troubleshoot repairs, maintain, install, and perform testing activities on various computer equipment & peripherals.

Warranty maintenance on machines bought from CW. Answer technical questions and provide customer support. Maintain workstation. Access the internet to obtain technical and component information (drivers & driver software). Package, price, and stock components and software for the stores. Perform other duties as directed by management to support evolving organizational needs.

Ability to multitask, make quick decisions, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Must be punctual, maintain a professional appearance, and perform expected duties. Must perform all duties according to GWH safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping standards, and ensure all walkways are clear and free of clutter. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand safety instructions, standard operating procedures, and workplace communications. Certification in Technology Repair (A+ Certification or equivalent) is preferred. Two (2) years of experience is preferred.

Must have reliable transportation. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment. GWH does not offer visa sponsorship for employment purposes. Key Performance Indicators: Ensure proper sorting of goods & salvage products. Proper breakdown of PC equipment. 100% in wiping all personal information.

Using the most up-to-date software on PCs. Maximize profit in PC building. Physical Requirements/Work Environment: This role is physically demanding and fast-paced. Regular twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g.

, large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.) Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Moderate indoor noise with periodic exposure to outside temperatures.
